The challenge

In a medical emergency every second counts. The challenge was to design an interface anyone can use under pressure, with minimal taps and no ambiguity.

The objective

Minimize the number of taps between opening the app and calling for help or accessing essential data.

The solution

Design and development of a mobile app with short flows, prominent action buttons and legible typography; later, real-time video and chat with WebRTC integrated into an existing Ionic/Angular app, Node.js signalling servers prioritizing patient privacy and stable connections on 3G/4G, and a hybrid model between peer-to-peer mesh and relay servers.

The impact

  • App with an interface optimized for critical situations
  • Simplified, direct navigation flows
  • Accessible, easy-to-read design
  • Video and chat teleconsultations (WebRTC) integrated into the existing app
  • Estimated 50% increase in completed remote consultations and 15% faster app start-up (founder's estimates)
